We are looking to hire a full-time Production Coordinator to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will support and ensure timely and accurate book production and manage special projects such as Kickstarters.
Responsibilities
40% Project Coordination
- Creates and manages development schedules and production budgets
- Shepherds projects through the editorial/production process from cover and book jacket design to reviewing proofs and proofreading for accuracy
- Ensures all internal staff and external freelancers are aware of and meet their deadlines throughout the editorial process
- Assists with the supervision of two Publishing Assistants
40% Kickstarters & Special Projects
- Manages projects such as Kickstarters and special editions
- Obtains quotes from artists, graphic designers, and printing vendors and oversees their process, ensuring quality and timeliness
- Leads the development of new products such as novelty items and merchandise
20% Marketing Support
- Assists with marketing duties such as but not limited to:
- submitting upcoming releases to publicity opportunities,
- ARC distribution and influencer management,
- answering production schedule queries,
- assisting with release promotion activities,
- and recording and analyzing sales data and KPIs with the marketing staff
Requirements
- 2+ years work experience in the publishing industry or an applicable role
- Self-starter with an ability to work independently in a remote work environment
- Excellent organizational skills and highly detail-oriented
- Experience in project coordination/project management
- Able to meet virtually once or twice a week during standard working hours
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Drive and other general office software
Nice to Haves
- Preference will be given to those able to meet in-person once a month in Toronto
- Familiarity with Kindle Direct Publishing, Draft2Digital, Kickstarter and/or BookFunnel is an asset
- Knowledge of the traditional publishing industry, indie publishing industry and their respective business practices
- Preference will be given to those with a background and education in book/product production and/or publishing
