In the most dangerous continent on Earth, the first year of the System Apocalypse has passed, but rather than getting easier, matters have just gotten worst. Monsters that were contained by constant farming are being pushed aside by monsters arriving from the sparsely populated deserts of Australia.
For Kira, keeping her family alive and finding her husband has only grown in urgency. Making the trek across the continent, creating a redoubt of civilisation and working with her Galactic allies are all important, but she's also got a teenager and child to care for.
